The Afriso piston-type anti-siphon valve >is suitable for oil-carrying pipes in oil-fired systems according to DIN 4755, with a pipe section below the maximum tank level. In case of a leak in the suction line, the piston-type anti-siphon valve keeps the tank from being drained as a result of the siphon effect. This special valve is suitable for fuel oil EL (DIN 51603-1), diesel fuel (EN 590), biofuel (EN 14213) and bio diesel (EN 14214) with up to 100% FAME. Also suitable for the use in areas liable to flooding.It is a vacuum-controlled shut-off system working according to a completely new principle: The valve is closed when the burner pump is not in operation. When the burner pump starts, a vacuum is generated in the suction line. This vacuum opens the piston-type anti-siphon valve and fuel oil is pumped from the tank. If there is a leak in the suction pipe or if the burner pump stops, the valve closes and the suction pipe between the tank and the burner pump is shut-off. The anti-siphon valve features a pressure relief mechanism, i.e. if the fuel oil contained in the suction pipe heats up and therefore expands, the valve opens. The fuel oil can flow back into the tank provided that a tank withdrawal fitting without backflow preventer has been installed. The pressure relief is independent of the adjusted safety height and operates reliably at a response pressure as low as 300 mbar. This valve can be adjusted to any safety height between 1 and 4 m. The adjusted value corresponds to the actual safety height (= max. filling height) and not to the actual installation height (as in the case of diaphragm-type anti-siphon valves).
This results in reduced line resistance, which has a positive effect on the service lives of the burner and the pump. The piston-type anti-siphon valve is designed as a closed system. The device is vented via the oil-carrying pipe back into the tank. Therefore, no additonal vent is required and water or dirt cannot get into the system. Since the diaphragm element has been replaced by a piston, malfunctions caused by pollution, ice or system overpressure (tearing of the diaphragm) are practically impossible.
